Shelby Valley beats Fleming Co 22-13, claims district title
#31
I am genuinely happy for Shelby Valley and the communities which comprise it.

Would love to see Valley build upon this and become consistently good.

They beat on the opposing defenses and wear them down. (Most 2A teams play players both ways). And after their long imposing drives it makes it hard for other teams offense to pick it up and get the tempo out of the wildcats hands. Valley will be a TOUGH out in the playoffs.

IMO, you're right about the tempo thing as an advantage in the ball-control ground game. It's more tiring to play defense than offense. It works if your team keeps moving the chains.

But...you don't want to fall behind more than a score, however. SV can throw some, but it's done playing off a working run game. Beside the Wing-T not being a good formation out of which to pass (better than the wishbone, however), all that time spent on the proper footwork/ball handling is time NOT spent on pass routes/timing. You can't do it all.
