Big win for Russell. Ashland missed opportunities killed them, especially the play calling at the end of the half, still confused about that. Prayers for Long, shame he got hurt. But congrats to Coach Maynard and Russell, they did great tonight.

Congratulations to Ashland on a good game as well.

How much longer does it go, before the faithful start calling for Coach Love's head on a platter? I'm sure Dickie is already doing it in private.

I was listening to his post game. He was remarkably restrained. Either he's mellowing with age, or the medications are working. I figured he would have swallowed his tongue at the end of this. I felt sort of robbed by his lack of opprobrium.

Didn't see this one coming. Congrats to Russell.

I think Russell is a bit better this early on and Ashland is not quite a good. As gifted and tallented as their backfield is there is ZERO continuity on offense. No Rythm what so ever.

I personally haven't seen a good team this year. Ironton, Ashland, Russell, or Raceland have not been impressive.
09-13-2014, 07:14 AM
First congrats to the Devils on a well deserved victory, you earned it. Ashland is horrible at the line on both sides of the ball. I thought against Raceland it may have just been the first game issues, but it's now obvious that the Tomcats need help in the trenches. Baker is great, but when defensive linemen are there when you get the handoff you won't get far.

I said after the Lawrence-v-Russell scrimmage that this Russell team was better then people were thinking. Now if my Dawg's could get their heads out of their butt's and play like they are capable of! Congrats Russell

Typical game between these two. I thought Ashland would get the win but Russell appears to be making strides that the Ashland team is not.

Congrats to Russell. The Devils never gave up and platooned some of their linemen in keeping them fresh at times. Big plays by all. From Hobacks sacrificial run in which he got injured to all of our RBs. Several 5 yard plays turned into 8 to 10 yard plays with their 2nd effort. Redden played a heck of a game on the line as well.

I think it's all due to a strict diet of that delicious and nutritious Modern Foods skim milk.
Of course that may have laced his with a little valium too......hh:

first of all If not for some blown coverages this game could've been alot worse. The Russell db's just don't cover the deep ball well. Second the QB Mackee is very good and nick Conley put on a show reminding me of the josh gross Casey Clark years. I hope there were some scouts there for baker that saw this young man too. Second our offensive line is just plain horrible. Two heartbreakers in a row should make these kids hungry. But its time to face facts there was a reason coach hart got out when he did. The pipeline of the previous 8 years was drying up.

Ah come on now, you know full well that NotsoBCADCAT has all that covered at the JFL.

I figured Ashland would of won this one after hearing all the hype. They may get it rolling. Congrats Russell.

Does everyone remember T-CATS rant and raves about NCC not returning to play ASH-land because they were chicken?? Maybe now he might realize that all that rain might have spared the mighty cats from a spanking they would never forget.

Good post, as usual, from tomcatfan722000. As for that infamous "pipeline", even with its extension to other "jurisdictions" in the last ten years or so, the products derived don't appear to be of sufficient quality.

Ironton by the way is much improved from last year. Really physical team. They beat a very good Amanda Clearcreek team in Ohio last night. Ashland is going to have a very rough go of it again this coming Friday.
Nice win for Russell. McKee had a nice game out side of the two ints. Should have had a few more completions on some nice passes that were dropped.
Conley and Korzep both run really hard.
Baker kept Ashland close enough to give them a chance. Two Hail Marys that he just went up and got to keep drives going. Even on defense he saved a couple of TDs and about another 100 yards rushing by running guys down that no one else could get to. You have to give that kid a ton of credit.

I agree with FBALL without baker this game could have gotten really ugly for the tomkittens.... Kudos to coach Maynard on going for the win in overtime.

Well..... you can certainly expect that Ashland is not going to win 4A if you can't beat the smaller schools. Maybe your lucky that NCC game got washed out.

The reaction of the Russell players, Coaches and fans at the end of the game was a great moment for Russell football. It reminded me of the reaction when Russell won the state championship in 2005. I have a very good feeling that Russell will do well this year.

Kick a team while they are down. Hmmmm sounds about right Bobby :Shaking: Tell us again how JC was going to lay the wood to CC last year? :biglmao: Or better yet tell us how they are going to this year? nicker: On a another note I do have to say congrats JC playing Perry Central. News is this is one of just a couple games JC plays an American Team all year.

For Russell's Jrs and Srs it was a special win because it's the last game they will play at Putnam stadium.
