Corbin 2014
#31
Yes it could happen, I just think they will win at home.
#32
You thought they would win on the road this year.
#33
Crewe you need to keep your concerns on who will be the QB over in the crater! Or your old stomping grounds of south laurel.

Corbin does return a lot BUT the weak schedule will come back to bite them, again.

They were looking to replace Trimble Co. Do you know if they have?

By reading your post you need to decide if you are from Knox or Bell. Bell is my call . Being from the Crater way off.

How is the banquet going this year. Try to keep it out of the SEKC banquet.

The schedule should be better, several good teams on there this year and hopefully they can find someone to replace Trimble on a 1 year deal.

The out of district opponents should all be improved over last year, with South Laurel being the weakest if Trimble is replaced. Add in Bell Co. and Wayne Co. and the schedule looks much stronger.

1.Pulaski Co.
2. SW Pulaski
3. Danville
4. Knox Central
5. South Laurel

If they lost Trimble, which they really need to do, they need to find another 1 year deal in a bowl game or something so they can get back on track on a two year home and away with someone in 2015.

How about Whitley? With Duncum as head coach for Whitley, this would provide a lot of chatter. Maybe Jewell is ready to play Whitley now that they seem weak.

There is no reason to play Trimble. They need to schedule a local team at home that will bring in gate money. Williamsburg, Whitley, Somerset, or North Laurel. Heck, Lynn Camp would be better than playing Trimble.

Or Middlesboro!

I doubt it. I don't think there is any scenario imaginable where Jewell agrees to play Whitley. He was given the deal of a lifetime and turned it down. He wont get that chance again. It will either be a home and away or nothing at all now. I don't think he'd play Whitley if we hired Willard Farris to be the new coach.

Don't ask me why.

However, when hes gone in a few years, I think whoever gets hired will man up and play no matter what. It just makes sense. I expect a Whitley/Corbin game to be an annual thing every year after Jewell is gone.
#42
Hounds/Colonels would be a huge gate. Hounds have played South Laurel over the years. South has similar numbers to Whitley. Corbin competes with South for kids the same as Whitley. Hard to justify not playing Whitley if you play South. This game needs to happen.

Who said Duncum is coming to Whitley County?

Schedules?
Bell
1a school from Tn.
4-7 2A Washington County
1-9 Whitley Co.
2A Middlesboro
Both play Knox
District
Harlan Co.

Sorry Corbin's schedule looks better than Bell in 2014.

So you were 100% on all your picks? Wow, I will just look at all your picks and go from there.

I think that is wishful thinking. I don't see Greg leaving Corbin.

not something I wish for.I hope he stays at Corbin. Whitley County can do better.

I would actually rather drop South Laurel and pick up Whitley County. Much better game and would be more of a rivalry since both are football first schools.

If Dudley Hilton becomes Whitley's coach you'll never see a Corbin/Whitley match up. Jewell has seen enough of Dudley and he doesn't want any more. There'll also be a ton of Corbin players transfer to Whitley. As a Corbin fan, lets hope Dudley doesn't go to Whitley. Sorry Gut, I can't back you on this one.:please:

I know Jewell wont play Whitley. He wont play Whitley no matter who is coaching.
As I stated in the Whitley thread, Whitley and Corbin will start playing on an annual basis as soon as Jewell is gone.
Until then, it wont happen.

A little bird told that coach Jewell could end up at Cumberland University next year

^
He would have already been gone.
And I don't see him moving out of Corbin when he does make a change.

I heard he is looking at the South Laurel job now. He knows everyone wants him gone at Corbin. This could be a huge change for both programs. I hope it's true. I also heard he brought all the players in this week and pretty much pissed them all off. He asked for input and several stepped up then he berated them. I'm afraid Whitley could end up with some transfers from Corbin.
#54
Only way Jewell leaves is if you fire him. He is not going anywhere.

That very well could happen. It's time for a change.

What are Corbin's chances to win the district in 2014? I think it's been three years now since they won a district.

I think they'll win the district if they don't lose any players.

I truly hope you are right. If Dudley gets the Whitley job Bell will win again. You will see a bunch if good kids transfer. Dudley will still have our number:ChairHit:

That's almost a sure thing for next year, or at least the year after now....

To put it the best way ive heard anyone say, "they did it for years, now its our turn to do it to them".

I honestly don't think it's the coaches or administration that does it. I think a good player will transfer to a better program and environment if he has the opportunity to highlight his skills. Williamsburg has greatly improved and Corbin lost several to them. It's a better environment. Kids used to come to Corbin from Whitley because it was a better environment. If Whitley hires Dudley then Corbin is doomed. If Jewell was to leave and Corbin hire Dudley or someone else with a good background then Williamsburg and Whitley will revert back to the 70s and 80s football wise. It comes in cycles. People want to blame it on the education system but I don't agree. Whitley and Burg are good schools. By the way Gut, Corbin is in Whitley Co but you act like they always steal kids. :lame:
