Sugar Bear Wrote:im a tomcat fan and ive seen bad calls in football games, im not going to go back and forth about all the calls. In the belfry game if not for two bone-head block in the back penalties that had nothing to do with the outcome of the play thay would have beaten ashland, but those are the rules of the game, I saw no fault in the russell game either ashland lost 5 turnovers and still won. ive seen bad teams win when thay get five turnovers but ive never seen a good team lose after getting 5 turnovers.

Unless the good team that lost had played just as sloppy as the good team that won. I believe both teams had turnovers and costly penalties in that game. Neither played particularly well but both played hard. To say that either one of them was not a good team shows ignorance or bias.

Sugar Bear is right that if would be way off base for the church to be actually preaching football itself. That was his thought process. I know that he would agree for it being used if it was only being used in an analogous form.

Ok before this gets out of context, I don't believe anyone said that they were "preaching" football, I was actually in the service that Devilologist was speaking of (it was my church and my son's baptism service) and he was using football coaching as an analogy. My son and several other children and adults commented after the service about what a great analogy it was and my 10 year old commented that it was a great message. Also if we are getting into this conversation I would be hesitant to make the remarks like the ones above in fear that someone got a blessing out of that sermon which God intended for it to be and you may have just crushed their blessing. We should pray about things before we type. No offense intended.

The sermon was actually like this: Having passion for Christ, doing his work and having feelings not just saying the words of GOD, but living them and letting others see it..... It would be like a football coach with players looking up to him and him just saying
"okay.....lets try to play some football,,,, everyone have fun,,,,,,,,,,,, if you dont feel like playing it is okay, you can sit and watch the game, just as long as everyone is happy, thats what important......
It makes a statement that : DON'T JUST GO TO CHURCH TO BE SEEN LIVE GODS WORD AND BE A GOOD CHRISTIAN, GIVE PRAISES TO GOD AND SPEAK OUT IN HIS FAVOR, SPREAD THE WORD TO OTHERS. DONT JUST SHOW UP TO CHURCH TO SET THE BENCH, BE A PLAYER WHO WANTS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. REJOICE IN THE NAME AND LOVE OF GOD............ NOW GO OUTTHERE AND KNOCK THEIR HEADS OFF !!! SORRY !!!!,,,,.... Got carried away again.... Hope you see the difference now...
Romans 14:11
It is written: " 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.' "
