How long has this kid been quit? Did he start out at the beginning of the season with the team or just now coming out? If he is does that 10 day rule apply or no?

Trey played all of last season and was a big time player for the Jumpers over the past two seasons but if what I have heard is correct he hasn't participated in any sort of football activities since the end of last season. While he was a very good player for Somerset, I wouldn't count on him being any sort of factor in the next couple of weeks.

I agree that it will be good for Trey Slaughter to come back out and join the team, but he is the one who is benefiting from it. Trey needs Somerset football right now more than it needs him.

I found out some more information about the situation. Trey is indeed back with the Jumpers. He has all of the necessary practices to be able to play on Friday night and he is looking VERY good in practice. From who I've been talking to that is very close to the situation: "He is better than what he was last year." Trey apparently hasn't lost any weight and is stronger in the weight room than when he came out of last years weight lifting season. The kids are happy to have him back, but the Jumper coaching staff may not let him see the field on Friday as he needs to work his way back onto an already very talented defensive line. Regardless the kid will be the first one in his family to graduate high school and that is very important.

On top of what I just posted, gaining a consensus first team all state defensive end will be a factor for the Jumpers over these next few weeks. Hazard, Breathitt, and Glasgow all run the football very well and you cannot consistently solo block both Slaughter brothers, Kagen Skidmore, and Bridge Smith all night. This is a big plus for the Jumpers (While I do agree it benefits Trey more than the team).

Well I didn't realize he was practicing already. If he's ready to play and the rest of the team is ready for him to join them on the field then I'm all for it. I wasn't trying to downplay what he's done at all he has been one of the Jumpers best players over the past two seasons. He just needs to realize that he could have a future in the sport if he works at it.

You have been given some incorrect information on some of this and I'll leave it at that. I'm glad Trey is back and hopefully he will indeed become the first in his family to graduate high school. I hope he takes advantage of this second chance and runs with it. But if you are expecting to see an improved version of last year's player, well it might take awhile. I know all of us are rooting for him to make it, anything he adds on the field is just a bonus.

The young man needs to finish or it will be something he will regret for a long time.

I will pick Somerset. I feel they are a little much for the homestanding Bulldogs. Briar Jumpers 35-14.

I'll take Somerset

Is this Somerset team more run orentied or a pass happy team or balanced. I was checking out the stats from there games and it seems they are more run oreinted or it may be that the QB scrambles a lot for big yardage.

I would say more run oriented, although they do have a pretty good balance to their offense which is to be expected when you run the spread. They do pass the ball, they have one of the best receivers in the state in Storm Wilson. However, Alex Lange who is playing quarterback for them this year is really more of a converted running back than a quarterback and has racked up some pretty impressive numbers running the ball from the QB position. Although he is a pretty good field general for them, Lange just isn't a strong of a passer as some of the Somerset quarterbacks of the past. IMO they throw the ball better whenever Tanner Gadberry is in the game. This is JMO also but I would like to see our Jack Rabbit offense become our normal offense, with Gadberry at QB and Alex Lange at RB.

Sounds like Lange is a play maker and needs the ball in his hands. I have yet to see hazard play this year since i have changed shifts for a better job. After this game i will get a good assessment on how good the bulldogs are and how good somerset is. Hopefully the game will play out pretty fast because I am pretty sure I will have to leave early to head to work.
