It was our special teams coach fault that Abner is a great football player as well.

I wasn't at the game, and don't know how the kids were coached, but I do know this.....
AT SOME POINT you STOP kicking him the ball!!!!

Are they going to find him a teaching job? Rumor has it there is nothing in the district nor will there be. I hope HC doesn't drop the ball on this one.

As in they do not have a teaching spot for the HEAD COACH!?!
02-11-2011, 09:05 AM
I thought the paper said he was going to be a special education teacher?
02-11-2011, 09:20 AM
Surely they have a job lined up for the head coach? I mean they have had since last june to prepare for a new coaches arrival.......If there is even a rumor that this is true is shows that HC is a mess when it comes to supporting coaches in the building. Hey if Spencer don't work out then what do they do???

Oh and as for the kick coverage it was awful, kicking it to the kid didn't bother me but those kids on coverage were bad, one time there was no one in the middle of the field. and the other time there was five outside the right hash. Pretty bad. I would say the kid had a few punt return yards too????

Don't these things ultimately fall into the lap of the head coach, Dale Anderson? You would think a guy, as the head coach, would be the final authority on whether or not to kick it to someone? Right?
I don't know Spencer, but sounds like a lot of PSW folks are using him as a scapegoat for the shortcomings of their program.

Let's face it, SW's special teams were just simply abysmal!
Abner had almost 300 yards in just KICK OFF RETURNS. At what point does the special teams coach, head coach, AD, principal, some parent in the stands, or even the kicker himself maybe drop the hint that the special teams coverage is not working and suggest that MAYBE you just kick it out of bounds?
As a PC fan I hate to see him leave.

Yeah Abner tore Southwestern up that night. He had the flu and still had an amazing performance against the WArrirors.

Could be tough, I heard he was a good coach.
02-12-2011, 03:37 PM
I would have kept kicking it to him too. The kids needed to learn a lesson and that is a good way to teach them.
02-12-2011, 06:12 PM
No jobs are open currently, and I am hearing they don't anticipate a single ECE spot in the district. I have heard the director of special ed had no idea they hired him. What will HC do if no spot opens? Lord knows the admin will not create one for a coach. This will get interesting.

It is obvious that one hand has no clue what the other is doing in Henry County. They are doing a great job at wiping away progress of this program. I still can not believe the people that they have had interested in this job and the people who have been on staff that have been passed over the last two years.......I just hope they do not ruin Spencer's chance to make this thing work. This coach is really coming in behind the 8 ball.
My guess is they drop the ball on a teaching job and he does not coach a game at Henry and we get another mid-summer hire.????????

You are the 4th person that has told me that the last 2 weeks.
I have faith that the school system will have this guy from a teaching position. Things are not that bad at Henry Co. I know there is a small Senior class, 5-6 players, but between 50-60 kids will come out on 7/15/11. The locals (Carroll, Owen, Trimble, Gallatin and Eminence) refuse to play Henry, but new rivals will be made.

Trust me they will want to play you guys once they see that your head coach couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper sack!

Captain,
I always repected your opinion, but your dislike for Coach Spencer, has become a little scary or childish.

I'll agree I am being a little too facetious...but I promise you when you tee the ball up in September you will see just exactly what I am talking about.

Haha, good one.
I agree, let the Football fans at Henry Co make their evaluation. The schedule is tougher, and the District is very tough, but let's see how the program goes foreward or not.
My decision will occur in December 2011.

Spencer will do fine. I think the only problem he will have early is putting a staff together. The district has 0 teaching spots to bring in a staff.
