I just want to see goodluck to both teams tomorrow night.
No matter who wins I have found a great respect for both of these programs and there fans since being a poster on here and reading post since before that.
Hopefully no rain, hard hittin, and a last second trick play lol.
Goodluck, less than 24 hours away now!

No it doesn't look green like that anymore, I think that was the 4th game of the year, however, the image of mud and dirt that you may have is far from what the field looks like. It is cut short and fast track for grass, there is no standing mud or big water spots. It is brown as bermuda is this time of year but not muddy. After the game though it may be after a thousand steps have been trouncing on it though.

Just going with some of the earlier posts
Crazy weather we've been having!....very warm today!...tomorrow expecting to be COLD!

Right now the wind is howling!...and the Black Bears are Growling!

Feels like a WIN is coming in the air for HC!!!

..And I'm ready for the Showdown!

Go Black Bears!!!!!:Cheerlead
I havent read every single page on here. Somebody might has done mention this.

The last time Tom Larkey played Highlands it was at home when he was at Rockcatle Co and beat the Bluebirds 45-6...
eagle8966 Wrote:According to a lot of the posts this is the game that Harlan was hoping for. We've played this team 3 years in a row. They're very disciplined, well skilled, and what I like the most is never any cheap shots. I haven't seen Harlan Co. play so I can't comment. There is one thing for sure, some posters aren't giving Johnson Central any creditability, next year we'll be 4A so there's no chance of meeting in playoffs. So give us a call. Getting some directions to the field coming in to Harlan off 119, where is the field? Thanks for some help.

I know we all like to have a little good ribbing now and then but Flea was out of control. I've made a few posts that I probably shouldn't have, but just having fun with those up North. Last week they were very good fans. Hope they enjoyed the atmosphere, maybe we'll see you next year.

Thanks eagle for the nice works about Highlands. The quickest way for a Highlands player to get yanked off the field by Mueller is to make a cheap shot. We've enjoyed the games against the Eagles the last three years. They've been hard fought, well played games. I'm expecting the same out of HC tonight.
Game day.
It is now pouring the rain, 44 degrees and a little sleet is mixing in. I believe we are currently at our high temperature that's predicted for the day.
Confusedtrom:
Game time temps are supposed to be in the high 20s. It's the day after Thanksgiving, and almost time for the Black Bears to play their game.
I have a lot of pride in this team, and plan on being at the game to support them.
I look forward to traveling to Bowling Green next week, but win/lose/draw this Black Bear team has given our fan base something to sink our teeth into, and something we can rightfully be very very proud of.
Thank you, Black Bears, and best of luck in the game tonight.

Go Black Bears!!!!

Looking forward to the trip, sounds like it will be one for the books. Good Luck to all our sons.

Go Birds!
I agree with Granny. These Black Bears have been a great representative of mountain football and mountain pride!

Go Black Bears, and defeather those Birds.
I believe if Harlan can control the ball like Johnson Central did they have a chance. Larkey runs just about the same offense as Johnson Central. If Harlan does not turn the ball over and controls the clock, it will be a close low scoring game but if not, Highlands is going to Bowling Green. Ill take Harlan in this one.
HC - 21
HHS - 17

Go Black Bears!!!!
Granny,

It looks like Harlan only had about a half inch of rain overnight (from a weather site I checked). Does that sound correct, or was there more?

Not sure what condition the field was in before this rain, but I don't think a half inch of rain will make for the muddy conditions some were predicting.

Best of luck to both teams tonight.
Good luck tonight Bears!
They talk is over, the only one who gets to trash talk now is the winner. The Loser will hurt for a few days, and then it will be on to Basketball and the pride will continue. Good luck to both teams. The trash talk was fun and much more civilized than I have seen on BGR, especially when it comes to opponents of Highlands. To the Victor goes the spoils. Kickoff is less than 11 hours away!

It's nice that you'd consider coming to BG to support us next week.:1:
IT'S FINALLY GAME DAY!!!!!!!!!! :letsparty

The field is muddy, just like the FILTHY ANIMALS like it and I predict them to be particularly nasty tonight. Fans are ready and tailgating is planned. Perfect football weather......who could ask for anymore?

GO BLACK BEARS!!!!! GGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

It will be your turn next year.
sstack Wrote:It will be your turn next year.

HC and Highlands will be in different classes next year so I doubt us making the trip.

I posted this on the other board and just thought I'd copy and paste it here:

This has been an awsome week to exchance post with you guys and get to know you and your program better. A lot of pre-conceived notions about you and your program have been dispelled in my mind. You guys have shown nothing but class and respect. Safe travels....I almost hate that the posting is over...lol.

Travel Safe my Friends.........
Game day for the cubbies

Tonight could possibly be the last varsity football game played at "Big Man" Davis Field with the construction on the new field beginning soon and the first few games being away next season. Leave no doubt boys!!!!! Go Bears!!!

You are right, I forgot we will be in different classes next year. We better enjoy the game tonight then, unless you guys would like to schedule a regular season game with us next year. I am sure Dale would gladly play you agian if you were willing to come up North.
Dang, I was hoping to read a little more smack before the game. Thanksgiving has made everyone all touchy-feely. lol

Seriously, how does the field look?
Good Luck to the HCHS Black Bears!! May both teams remain injury free on a muddy field. Hope my Black Bears come out on top against a very good Highlands team.
Field is brown, which is normal for this time of year with the Bermuda Grass. We didn't get all the rain that was expected. I would guess that it's still pretty saturated. The sun has just came out and the clouds are parting. My guess is by the end of first half they'll all be wet, muddy, and cold. It's 39 out right now. Perfect day for football!
It's almost feeding time!!!last one in close the gate. GO BLACK BEARS!!!!!!!
Goodluck to our Bluebird friends from the North.
Close the Gates....

Go Bears!!!

Good Luck to both teams!
