Kevin Spurlock the new Coach at Sheldon Clark
#42
fan first Wrote:BobcatDad, Spurlock lost alot of players at Clay because of his insistance on making the athletes chose between aau basketball vs summer football workouts and passing leagues. With the better players chosing football over basketball at Clay, he really hindered the program from fielding the best team possible. With a new beginning, I'm sure he will handle this situation better at SC.
Kevin is a pretty good defensive coach, but he always has struggled offensively. His teams are always in shape but the players never seemed to improve. His practices regiments were questioned at both Clay and Hazard. I think he needs a good veteran asst. coach on his staff. He just inherited a couple at Clay that weren't the best of help.

He won a state all A championship and a regional title. I would say that's more than alot of so called good offensive coaches will ever do. If I remember correctly he coached a kid at Hazard named Justin Hicks that improved every year he was there and as a senior was an all stater.

Good luck Coach Spurlock!
