Have to disagree with you on a couple things here TH32. I don't think he can coach at all. Look at the programs he turned around. They are football schools I believe. Those people are happy with 18 to 20 wins a year with an NCAA apperance every 3 years or so. I don't think he knows talent, if he did he wouldn't have offered the scollys he did at UK. Not one of those kids he was recruiting could play in the SEC and contribute any significent minutes. He set UK's program back 5 years in the loss column. I usually agree with most of your posts, they are very insightful, but this one I can't go with.
I too am a fan of the Razorbacks, especially with John being the coach.

Well, the respect is absolutely mutual, and I do agree with a lot of your post. Those schools (UTEP, Texas A&M) are football schools, but after his first season at UTEP (6-24), he had a top 25 recruiting class, and went 24-8 the next year after being predicted 9th or 10th or something like that in the WAC..and he took TA&M from 7-21 the year before he got there to 21-10 his first year, and his last season there, they ended up #6 in the final regular season polls, knocked off Louisville and came within 1 point of knocking off Memphis in the tourney..If he can coach a school near Texas, he'll do very well recruiting. I believe he tried to branch out at UK recruiting wise, and failed miserably, where as when he was at the other two schools, he recruited primarily in Texas. With that said, I just believe he crumbled under the pressure at a real basketball school. If he can stick to coaching basketball at a football school, he'll do well. However, I hope Pelphreys at Arkansas forever (I was a fan there during Suttons last couple of years, through the Strollin Nolan years, Stan Heath and still follow them today). I just wish he had Courtney Fortson at the first of the season, that 14-12 could easily be 19-7 or 20-6, but they still have a great shot to win the SEC West. But anyways, this is about BCG, sorry I got rambling on about the Hogs, lol..
