Does the random test at Dunbar screen for steroids? Very few schools include the steroid test in their random drug tests because of the costs. Do not be naive about steroids among high schoolers. Coaches need to be the first line of defense for sudden increases in size and strength. Hopefully, there are no coaches that would put their head in the sand on this issue. I do not believe it to be a big problem at this time, but all need to be put on alert and keep it from becoming a bigger problem. I am from Central Ky and I know over the years, there has been usage at most of the area schools.

I think it falls on proper education. Not exagerated horror stories. Its to easy for them to look at the facts and find flaws in exagerations. Also parents need to be involved. However strength and size gains are not a sign of steroid use in high school students. Their going through puberty and maturing. They build abnormal amounts of strength and size at this age anyways. I went from 250lb. bench press up to 365 in two years. 100lb of that came in a year. My body just matured. In my freshman class there were three steroid users. They came in their freshman year benching over 300lbs. But they weren't any stronger than me by our senior year. They matured faster due to the steroid use but damaged their bodies natural ability to produce testosterone.
