Salaries in baseball are ridiculous and owners will continue pass along the expenses, or give some upfront signing bonus, with no intention of retaining the player the full length of the contract.

I like Holliday, he brings several of the 5 tools for the Cardinals but he's not worth this kind of money. Will be interesting to see a full year protecting Pujols in the lineup.
