(11) Virginia Tech 37 - Tennessee 14 (Chick-Fil-A Bowl)
#11
Sure, Crompton played good, but struggled against better competition. He threw for 93 yards against UF and UCLA, 142 against South Carolina, and 176 against Mississippi. Highest games against mediocre Memphis and Georgia, both home games. Tenn played 4 road games, that's pitiful. You can't brag about your team when you play 8 home games, that's ridiculous. In his 4 road games, he threw for 754 yards, 4 TD's, and 4 INT's. In two games he threw 0 TD's. Those are not the numbers of a top SEC QB. Come on now, he threw for 93 yards, at home, against UCLA and you're saying he's a top SEC QB??? Please. Add in the bowl game, and for his road/neutral game sites, he threw for 989 yards, 5 TD's and 5 INT's. Not convincing numbers. So when he played on the road/neutral, Crompton averaged less than 200 passing yards and 1 TD and 1 INT. That doesn't cut it, and that's why UT didn't make the cut this season.
