Was Johnson Central the 2nd Best Team in 5A?

Try the rushing statistic. Try 95 yards rushing on offense and a grand total of 102.

Try your defense gave up 400 yards to Boyle. Not bad for a team that only won because of "short fields."

No one ran against Boyle's defense all year, whether it was turnovers or not. Bell didn't crack 100 on the ground and they "did not" turn the ball over.

While JC got better on the year, so did other teams.
Turnovers have a way of eating into a team's time of possession. It is hard to run or pass the ball if you are busy coughing it up to the other team's offense. Turnovers also make your defensive stats misleading because they: 1) often give the opposing team great field position and 2) lead to your defensive players becoming fatigued by forcing them to spend too much time on the field.

I think that your analysis of the box score ignores the impact of turnovers in most football games.
