First of all I think that any kid should have the privilege to do what ever they want. It may be marching band, tennis, academic team, rotc, dirt analyzation...it doesn't matter. I think it's great they have the opportunities to do that. Soccer to me fits in a catagory of a non-skilled sport. It may involve more stamina than baseball, softball, or football, but how many hits could a soccer player take from a 250 lb linebacker, or how many 90 mph fastballs could they hit, or how many hot shots at 3rd could they field? I just think these sports are played with kids at a greater talent level and the rest play soccer!

Well if soccer is only taking the players that don't have talent then it shouldn't hurt those talented sports that you list. Soccer in Lawrence County is growing and will continue to do so. This spring they are going to be having a great camp put on by players from Europe. They were in Ashland last year and a large majority of those that attended were from Lawrence County.
