More details: Andrew Beeler ran for four touchdowns, the last one giving the Colts an 11-point fourth-quarter lead in a win over Prestonsburg at Southern High School in Louisville.
Michael Burchett threw four touchdown passes for the Blackcats, who were trying to reach the state title game for the first time since 2001.
“Their quarterback, Â*Burchett, we knew he could throw it,â€Â DeSales Coach Mark Sander said. “He was outstanding. I can’t believe we won, and we’re going to play for a state championship. I guess I’m in awe right now.â€Â
The loss was the first of the season for Prestonsburg, which finished 13-1.
DeSales will play undefeated Class 2A favorite Fort Campbell in the state finals next week in Bowling Green. The Falcons, who have won the last two state championships, beat Monroe County 30-16 on Friday.
