Unless you have actually officiated you have no ideal what you are talking about. I coached middle school football for 14 years and thought I knew the rules. I am now a licensed official and I can assure you I had no clue what the rules were. They have rules clinics every year that is mandatory for all high school coaches to attend but all they discuss at the clinics is any rule changes from the previous year. Most high school coaches do not know the rules. I had an instance in a game this year where the coaches on one team wanted a chop block call on the offensive line from the other team because two offensive linemen were engaging his defensive lineman and one was above the waist and the other below the waist. I explained to him that if the contact is immediately off the line of scrimmage that it is not an illegal block. The whole coaching staff said I was wrong. It's in the rule book in black and white.
