Bungie and PlayStation owners don't really mix, simply because the studio hasn't produced a game for a Sony platform since Oni way back in 2001. Ever since, they've been on Microsoft's side.
As you all know, Bungie is responsible for the insanely popular Halo franchise, which is essentially the series that put the Microsoft Xbox on the map way back in 2001. Since then, every new release has sparked a new interest in either the Xbox or Xbox 360 and the most recent entry, Halo 3: ODST, created another FPS feeding frenzy amongst the faithful. However, we've known that Bungie has separated from Microsoft and since that announcement, we've wondered if the team will stick with Xbox exclusivity with their next project or be more practical and go multiplatform. Well, if the information heard on the most recent edition of the HipHopGamerShow is accurate, Bungie has been preparing their secret game for a little while now. This would have to be the case if their first PS3 game will debut next year. We sincerely doubt it'll be exclusive - unless Bungie really wants revenge on MS, or something - but the mere fact that it'll arrive on the PS3 at all is big news.
Another Halo, it will not be; Microsoft has a stranglehold on that franchise, I think. But whatever it is, it'll be intriguing for two reasons: 1. we'll get to see how Bungie handles the PS3, and 2. we'll see if they're capable of producing a quality title that doesn't say "Halo" on the box. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
