Clay and North are going backwards fast, with both on extended losing streaks. Whitley, Letcher, and Clay were better last year. North, Perry, and HC have improved from the previous season. This is the reason for the balance. Not tougher, just teams going in opposite directions.
Moral victories and playing teams "close" don't get you in the playoffs.
Anyway, back on the subject, if Knox is going to be a powerhouse in the future, then Clay and North will be state champions.
