Walk-ons getting scholarships do happen now and then, but not very often.

Krebs at UK was a walk-on and finally got a scholarship this year as a senior, but I believe that is because Calipari ran everyone else off, including several scholarship players.

Mills and Moss started out as walk-ons and got scholarships their senior years. So it is possible.

The tough thing is as a walk-on you may not get the opportunity to prove youself in a real game situation, and if you do it's usually "mop up time".

It's stated that Pitino wants Elisha to back up Siva at the PG position, that means Siva won't be gone until Elisha is a Senior. Does anyone honestly believe that Pitino will not recruit another Top 10 high profile PG the next four years? No way, there's about a 100% chance that Elisha will constantly get recruited over.

I've seen Elisha's work ethic and competiitveness on the court, I hope he gets the opportunity to prove himself and earn that scholarship. Because if anyone can "earn-it" Elisha will. Hope this is the right decision for him.
He could definitely go to a smaller D-1 school and make an impact as a freshman and possible start the next 3 years. Fingers crossed that it works out for him. He is a great kid. Good luck Elisha!:Thumbs:
