Rockcastle County’s Sophomore Clark Rowe has 1476 Rushing yards and 18 TDs in 8 Games. He Leads 4A District 7 in rushing yards. Boyle County Rees MacShara has 1386 Yards with 17 TD’s.

It is mind-boggling that Rowe is leading 4A District 7 whenever you have all the Bell County backs, Rico Brown AND Watts/Roark in that district with Rowe!

FWIW, Rowe had 85 yards on 21 carries vs. Boyle when they met earlier in the season. Bell County held him to 77 yards on 19 carries.

on Rock's Schedule on khsaa.org when you click stats in says Clark had 85 yard on 21 carries in the boyle game. He has only been held under 100 yards in two games (#1Boyle and #2Bell)

In my Opinion I think Rees is Mr football worthy. he would Have my vote

In reference to these last two posts that I am quoting:

Rowe's two games of under 100 yards, as a Sophomore, show his grit. Both games against Bell and Boyle show that he carried the ball a pretty good number of times and still ended up averaging over 4 yards per carry. Bell and Boyle both have GREAT defenses.

Rockcastle scored 22 on Boyle County IN DANVILLE. Rowe was leading that attack. Nobody else has scored anymore than 13 on Boyle this season. I know we are talking about rushing only but when you look at the Boyle County game, you have to notice that Rowe had 85 yards rushing AND 4 catches totaling 34 yards. Most catches were probably short catches that he turned into bigger plays. That gives Rowe 119 yards of offense for that game. :Thumbs:

The Bell County game also saw Rowe averaging over 4 yards per carry. A total of 97 yards of offense ON Log Mountain. Not great but it shows his versatility against a GREAT defense.

When you mention backfields you have to give credit to the big bruising fullbacks/halfbacks. John L Saylor averages 6.4 yards per carry and has almost 600 yards rushing and 7 touchdowns. When you combine Rowe and Saylor's numbers you get: 2046 yards rushing and 25 TD's!!!

Also, I know that the O-Line is not in the backfield but they deserve credit for the teams rushing success. Rock's line is not the best in the state but they do have 2 Sophomores that start on it. When you take into account that Rowe, Lake, and Adams are Sophomores and John L Saylor is a Junior. Next year you return the entire backfield and 2-3 starters off the offensive line, these numbers could get even BETTER!:yikes:

With my speech finished :biggrin: Boyle, Bell, Allen Central, Lawrence County and Rowan County (I know about the schedule but still) all have great backfields.
