No, he was defintely not the best player in college football that year, but as typical of the Heisman, it doesn't always go to the best player (least year). Gino was leading the Canes to the second straight Championship game and had thrown for an impressive 3000+ yards. That was the year that Horace Copeland made some of the most impresive TD cathes by any college player in the history, but again, who gets credit for passing TD's????? I'm with you though, Gino was not the best player, on either his team or the nation....
