Comparing drugs like oxycontin to alcohol sales is like comparing apples to oranges.
Oxycontin is a legal drug. It's the people that sell those drugs illegally, use them for reason other than what they were made for, and the doctors that prescribe them unnecessarily that you need to control. They're nothing more that a new wave bootlegger.
Taking your arguement and turning it around as you like to do, are you saying we should allow bootlegging and keep legal alcohol sales out of Paintsville just because that's the trend with selling drugs?
If I want to sit on my porch and drink a beer I purchase legally from Wal-Mart or FoodCity, I should have that right, just as you have the right to not purchase it. If I have severe pain from cancer and I need oxycontin to help with the pain, I have that right because it's legal. Now if I sell those same pills to others who crush them and snort them, then my big butt should go to jail. If I drive while drinking, I should go to jail. If I'm causing problems in my neighborhood from my drinking, I should go to jail. But to compare the illegal use of a narcotic to the legal sale of alcohol is using that fear factor I mentioned earlier. You can't or shouldn't convert people with fear, convert them with truth, facts and kindness.
