Great hire for Mercer. Bill Mason was a more than accomplished head coach at Nelson County before he came to Mercer. Had he been able to play anybody, but St.X, Male, Manual, etc when he was at Nelson, they would have made more noise than they did when he was there. He and his team fell on hard times in his last year at Nelson, and that has unfairly overshadowed the success that he had in his previous years. I think the principal at Mercer Co had a problem at first with Mason being Jaggers' right hand man, tied in with him, etc. They have a tough schedule this year, regardless of their class, but if Mason is given the support he deserves, he'll do very well. I see Mercer finishing at least 2nd in their 5A district this year.
