Coach Turner was asked to coach with a long-term commitment to build the girls' basketball program. As a matter of fact, a parent of one of the girls rumored to be leaving made the suggestion that she should be hired as the coach.

You are right, the program does belong to the coach and she is more than willing to do whatever she can to develop this program to be competitive, like the days when she played. Considering that none of the faculty signed up to be the coach and none will assist her as a coach, I think she is doing as well as can be expected at this time. In your opinion, what should she do?

What do you mean by "coach and basketball program could play a role in why they are leaving not everyone elses fault"? What was Coach Turner supposed to do? She wanted those girls to continue playing at ACHS and thought they would, then in May heard they were leaving. Why would a coach feel the need to 'recruit' girls who were already playing on the team and in the high school's feeder school?

Was any of the faculty given the opportunity to sign up to be the coach or to assist her???

To reply to the above quote....It seems that everyone else (such as Coach Hancock and Coach Martin) is getting the blame for all of the problems and the girls leaving when it could be the coach and the way the basketball program is being run as to why they are leaving. Maybe they are not happy with the coaching and the program as to why they are leaving is what I am suggesting instead of blaming so many other individuals. Like you said, why would she feel that she needed to "recruit" them to play when they had already played on the high school team for several years. I just find it strange that after several years of playing on the high school team that 3 girls decide to transfer. The girls basketball program has went through 3 coaches within the past several years and you can't build a program by hiring just anyone and there should be more concern for the girls.
