Another thing that hurts numbers is TROPHIES. Kids get a trophy for showing up, and by the time they are old enough to start football, the kid and his entire family think he is a superstar, because look at all the trophies. When he doesn't start, or doesn't play, well the coach is stupid or has it in for the kid. The kid quits to use his talent elsewhere like drawing a SSI check, and playing video games all day while on homebound instruction.
