I REALLY dont think baseball was too worried about steroids in the late 90s. This is my gripe. No matter what anyone says, other than Ripken playing #2131, the homerun chase of '98, and the monster seasons Sosa and McGwire had, SAVED BASEBALL. Yes, Griffey and Thomas were both amazing hitters, but the chase is what brought fans back to the game after the '94 strike. I always loved baseball, and always will, but even the diehard "Ill never watch another game" people came back to the game because of McGwires 70 and Sosas 66. Sosa had three 60 homerun seasons (and never led the league, lol), and it upsets me that baseball waited till it got its popularity back to do something about it, and suddenly care. Im a fan of small ball anyways. I'd rather see teams win on strategy and pitching than knocking balls 500 feet, although if the Pirates could win shootouts, that would be fine too. Anyways, Sosa doing roids dont shock me at all, but baseball KNEW him and McGwire was on them, but waited till just the past few years to care. Put him, McGwire, Clemens, Bonds (even though I hate him) and by god, put Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame!

One more thing, I would love to see ANYBODY hit 74 homeruns in one season. Somebody please take that away from Bonds!
