[Hawks nest]

The same thing happen to me in a game back in the 80's when I played against another power team in the mnts well guess you could say the state also. I was down covering on a punt when I was hit int the small of my back by an oponnent. He celebrated even though he also got the flag and a 15 yard penalty. I didnt move. I didnt feel anything from my waist down. I was loaded and taken to the hospital and after some medical attention I was to be moved from the original stretcher to one of the hospitals bed to be sent to x ray. When they went to move me my back popped and I began to get the feeling back. Felt like pins sticking in my legs and hips. Sure was a scary experience to me. I think something needs to be done with this. If you hit someone with your helment in a that way suspension should be immediate. I know that sometimes legal hits do this but when you are hit from behind like that with an intent to injure I feel there needs to be more than a yellow flag and fifteen steps. That is like telling players "Hey we can take out their best player and it is only gonna give them a first down." I think parents hold back a lot of kids that could make big differences in a lot of our local schools for these same reason. They see these things happen and wont allow their kids to be a part of the team. This is something that khsaa needs to look into and make some changes to protect our kids.
