The alignment that makes most sense to me is:

57 - Sheldon Clark, Lawrence Co., Johnson Central, Paintsville

58 - Magoffin Co., Prestonsburg, Betsy Layne, Allen Central

59 - Shelby Valley, Pikeville, South Floyd, Jenkins

60 - East Ridge, Pike Central, Belfry, Phelps

This makes sense geographically, and makes four - four team districts. If Piarist has a team, put them in either 58 or 59. I can't believe the KHSAA hasn't thought of this alignment. What is everyone's thoughts on this?

This looks very logical to me. The thing about not wanting to break up the "floyd county whatever they call it" is just archaic... that may have been fine back when everyone traveled by horse & buggy or two-laned roads, but is really something that has outlived its usefulness. I believe that all this "posturing" in the Pike & Floyd County Districts is what has the Region disheveled in the first place... then there's the KHSAA playing right along with them... nothing ever gets done that is truly in the best interests of the kids as far as they are concerned. It's ALWAYS about the almighty $$ and making some fat cat school district happy, who can maybe do something for them somewhere down the road... WUH~HOO education pays.
