HAHAHA....Love this topic!! Let me tell you a good one......

I worked in a fast food resturant... a "mom and pop" style rest.... Had a HUGE crowd and there were I think about 3 of us manning the tables... I had a group at one of mine who were just kids but ah... around 19 years old or so... they were being rude and very abnoxious.... when they left, they left 25 cents on the table. We always helped each other out so one of the other girls was cleaning my table. She laughed and brought the quarter over to me and said, "Here ya go... You can retire now"... Well, I thought it was funny as I just laughed it off and politely took the quarter to the register where they were paying for their food and gave it back to them! I told them they might need it on their bill. IMHO, if you don't have the extra cash, you can't tip, at least be nice to your waitress. BUT, both my hubby and myself always tip unless the waiter/waitress is a total rude rump. I also am like you NCF... I like them to keep my glass "drinkable" or at least ask me if I would like a refill. It's common courtesy to do your job correctly even if you are just a waiter or waitress. I know I loved what I did when I worked in that type of profession. I met quite a few people who have became good friends and people remember what type of service that they got and tended to return AND tip well! I would walk out on some days with anywhere from $60.00 to $100.00 in just tips.... You have to remember though.... this was a small town, local, mom and pop type of establishment!!! My advice on this one... be nice to your waiter or waitress and if the favor is returned and your glass kept full.... tip them well!!! LOL.....

HaHa. I always tip unless they are really rude.
