Thanks for all of the positive comments. I hope the kid in all of us really enjoys this event. It will take a lot of hard work from a lot of people to pull this off but I know it can be done. I was told the idea of me having the boys & girls hoopfest was crazy and I couldn't pull it off but if you attended any of those events over the last two seasons you would know that it was worth every minute of the time spent to put it on. The kids got to see and play kids that they normally wouldn't get to compete against. I had teams from as far away as Huntington, WV., Florence, Ky., Whitley County and just about every school in Floyd and Pike County compete and I couldn't have ask for anything to go as smoothly as those events did. This will be the first time that I can remember anything like this being put on in our area. When I was approached with this idea I thought it was a wonderful idea and a great way to give the kids a place to showcase their talents. The individual competitions should really be a lot of fun. During these competitions the kids not performing will be sitting around the walls and hopefully showing support to their fellow competitors. Jump up, give a high five, swing that towel around showing support when someone nails consecutive three point shots. I think the atmosphere will be great. What everyone really needs to remember is this event is being put on for the kids and remember that the individual competitions are open to any and all Eastern Ky middle school basketball players.
