Miller leads No. 7 Mercy past No. 3 Manual

A battle of top-10 foes lived up to its billing as visiting Mercy, No. 7 in The Courier-Journal Litkenhous Ratings, toppled No. 3 Manual 68-63 in girls' basketball last night.
Juliann Miller scored 19 points and Ellen Sholtes pitched in 17 as the Jaguars (16-6) built a 32-26 halftime lead and held on in the second half. Malisa Cruz added 11 points, including two three-pointers.
The Crimsons (19-4) were led by Avery Jones' 21 points, and Kara Wright added 16.
