Does your school administration support your girls’ basketball team?

neverdefeated Wrote:When I played at Knott Central, the girls were treated horribly. The only time we got any recognition was when we went to state. All of a sudden we had tons of fans. Next season when Kasi Mullins-Galloway was gone, it was back to the same old thing. The boys get new uniforms pretty much ever year. At one point, I remember them having "home" and "away" shoes, as well; something that is unheard of for girls. We asked for new uniforms after we won state and even though we got them, it was quite a struggle. The boys always got pep rallies before pretty much every ball game. We were lucky to get one a year. Boys and girls high school basketball should be valued equally!
I can't say a lot about the pep club never coming to their games because I suppose that is a choice each fan makes, not administration, but the pep club is led by an administrator and that person gives out the orders to come to games.

Posts like this are taste-less and highly uncalled for. There is support at every school for girls basketball but when the rubber hits the road at the end of the day, almost anyone (that is honest) would say they would rather watch a boys game than a girls game. The admin. has very little control over if fans come to games and furthermore, perhaps if people fundraised for the girls as avidly as the Boys Boosters fundraise for the boys then perhaps they too could receive the same new uniforms each year. Its not the administration that you have a problem with here, it seems as if you have a problem with the Boys raising more money than the girls-in any case, don't blame the administration for it, blame the boosters.
