Once agian I am amazed at this. Do even the very intelligent, college bound kids do this? At my old high school they had PE classes but very few kids took the class. We were too busy taking college prep classes. Wt lifting was after school and everybody on the team went. Parents are hurting their kids by not having them taking classes to prepare them for college. What is the percentage of kids from these schools that go on to college?( Bell , Breathitt, Russell, ect.) In another post they were talking about even the top kids from eastern KY schools not being prepared for college, maybe this is part of the problem.

Well, I can't speak for the other two but Russell is a very well respected academic school. They don't offer it as an elective anymore but they don't have kids that have the travel issues that some of the county schools do. Since travel is an issue and it takes some student athletes a long time to get to and from school, I believe it is a great thing that these schools can offer Advanced PE as an elective.

As I said, Russell is probably the top academic school in Eastern Kentucky and one of the top schools in the state. They are anually one of the highest ranking schools on standardized testing and send a majority of graduates on to institutions of higher learning. Further proof for you could be the fact they they have been the Governers Cup State Champions 4 times along with many other academic awards and achievements that you can see at this link if you would like.
