Senior Joe Daniels made two free throws with nine seconds remaining in overtime, and Beechwood held on to defeat visiting Highlands 58-54 in a boys' basketball game Friday night.


The Tigers are tied for No. 6 in the Enquirer Northern Kentucky coaches' poll, and the Bluebirds are No. 3.

Six of Beechwood's 10 points in overtime came on free throws. Tigers senior Trey Beuttel sent the game to the extra session by making one of two free throws with 10 second left to tie the game at 48.

Beuttel totaled 10 points, and senior Brian Romes scored a team-high 16 for the Tigers (12-2). Senior Nathan Snyder added eight points and 10 rebounds for Beechwood.

George Grote scored 16 points for Highlands (12-4).
