Cumberland was one of those, made it to the state (not easy with a small school like their's) and turned out some great athletes such as Garrett Gregory, Lewis Morris, and others. And Cawood has had some studs over the years too. So too has Evarts.
Their are schools just as big as Harlan County that lose to small schools year in and year out. South Laurel has a good team every year because they have a tradition rich program, which attracts kids from surrounding counties.
So, I disagree with you. It's just a matter of time until Harlan County is going to be a HUGE factor in 13th region and state play.
