Either way the point I am trying to get across is if you want to make the argument that people are against Palin because she is a women. Thus, making the argument that many of those same people are being sexist. You must look at the counter point of people being racist. That is my point Bettle, honestly I know of at least 100 people at JUST Pikeville College whom I either have class with or associate with on a weekly bases who have stated one or the other. That they (1) Voted for McCain because Barack Obama is a terriorist or (2) They would never vote for a black man (however using other dirragatory language). I am not saying all McCain supporters were like that but many were. Probley more McCain supporters placed there vote on that rather then being sexist and not voting for McCain because he had a women as his running mate. I could care less if your black, white, hispanic, male, female, heterosexual, homosexual, etc. if I believe you could run this country better that is why I am voting for you. If I think you could lead us in the right direction better then the man or women who stands next to you making counter points, then I am going to vote for you.
Yes but if Obama was more conservative and not a liberal, then more of those people might vote for him. Sure there are people out there who won't vote for a black guy. Just like there are black people who won't vote for white people, or only vote for black candidates.
I didn't vote for Obama, I dislike most of his policies he ran on, although honestly I think once he's in there and finds out the truth about whats going on in the world, he will become more moderate, hopefully. I think you've seen a drastic change in him, even leading up to the elections, because the DOD had already begun briefing both campaigns on security and defense issues. Then you saw Obama and Biden make some interesting comments. Like a little kid that just found out Santa isn't real.
I would vote for Colin Powell in a heartbeat if he ran, if he still holds his conservaive values he had years ago. People change, and he did support Obama. So that makes me either think he's changed his values some, or he supported Obama because he is black. Which really, if I was black, I would probably have voted for Obama.
