So I guess we can expect to see Beechwood, Raceland,LCA, Frankfurt, Louisville Holy Cross, Hazard,Williamsburg, Fairview or Ludlow on next year's schedule? These are the only "strong" 1A schools that's about a three and a half hour drive or less from Paintsville. Please let us know what teams Paintsville will be playing next year.

I've not dogged Paintsville one time after the loss on here. I just think it's gutless to end a thirty five year old series because you've been defeated five times in a row. I think by taking your ball and going home your sending the message to your fans that you can't beat Johnson Central and you're throwing in the towel.

Who mentioned that JC was determined to catch up to Paintsville in the all time series? That's right you did. I don't remember seeing that mentioned on here by a JC fan. So that's probably another motive to end the series.


You can tell me excuse after excuse on why Paintsville wants to end a thirty five year old rivalry but you're just wasting your breath so spare me. We all know it's all about pride and ego.

I am a Tiger that was brought up with this rivalry. I was playing grade school ball at Paintsville Ele. when the Apple Bowl began. I have never missed a game.
Size was never an issue....ever. Still isn't if you ask me. JCHS just has more and better players than Paintsville at this time. Why? Matney. Keep him as long as you can. Heck...I was looking at a PHS yearbook the other day that showed a Tiger team with 48 players that went 2-8 that year. It's not the numbers, it's who the numbers are and who is leading them. I honestly believe that in 3 years or less, Coach Kinner will have Paintsville back to where they were. Actually I am thrilled that JCHS has a good program. Success breeds success. Do I want to see the Apple Bowl end? No. I just want PHS to build their program back. They can and will. I want JCHS to keep building their program and eventually be able to take down the "Big Boys" in classes 5A and 6A.
