You must not keep up with the Ashland/Raceland series. Raceland has beaten Ashland for 3 straight years now. Just one of those rivalries when the best team may not always win. I think at this point that for whatever reason, Raceland must hold some sort of a psycological advantage over Ashland. It happens!

I do agree with you in hopes that no one is injured that will deter each respective team from reaching their ultimate post season goals in the real season.

Oh, I do keep up with the series and have even posted about this very fact previously. In fact, if you go back 25 years and look at all of the records, Raceland has held their own in this series. But just look at the Apple Bowl series as well. Both JC and Paintsville have their fair share of wins. Paintsville has beaten JC several years in a row and holds the series record. JC has now beaten Paintsville several years in a row and can close in on evening up the record with another win this year. But Paintsville's early success against JC in the 70's and 80's I think gave them some sort of psychological edge against JC back then. But since the Music and now Matney era's at JC, that edge has evaporated. I think JC goes in with a confident attitude and it is the Tigers that while not timid, know they are in for a battle. But anything can happen and that's why we play the games.
