The only reason most of their initial pass plays did not work, mainly because they did play action, hard to do when the other team is bringing 9 sometimes 10 guys. If they would have had the time on the first couple pass plays they would have been touchdowns as there was not a defender within 15yds of either reciever. They needed to do some quick pop passes and screens, I even know 100% that they put a screen in.

While Russell's line is not great, they are just as good as most teams they will play, but you can't ask each linemen to block 2 guys. They never used Aj's speed to get him out of the pocket and get Dave or Mitchel 1 on 1, or what it owuld have been 1 on 0 because Ashland sold out. Its just discouraging as fans to see such little coaching, and that's all that was, no coaching. Why stay with a 5 man front when all the other team can do is run. I know the coaches know a 6-3 because we ran it when I was there against Parkersburg to shut down their run, and it worked beautifully. We still lost but they couldn't move the ball on O after that. Now if we could do that to that Parkersburg team, I could only imagine what this team would have done to that Ashland team.


I'm also gonna say this, the school needs to get their act together. There is no reason that Frazier, Holbrook, or Mcpeek, which he is at Fairview now doing well. Did not recieve jobs to be @ Russell. This coaching staff is getting older and they need to bring in some next gen guys and spread their knowledge. Mcglone does get stubborn and runs 26 over and over and over. Him and his staff have a great wealth of knowledge, its just not always utilized.
