I guess this game put a end to the Macon hype. Macon is a great athlete no question about that, but he is also very lazy and walks around on the field alot. The first half they didn't give Thomas the ball nearly enough, and tried to just dropback and air the ball out. Turpin also hangs on to the ball WAY to long, and the Monroe Co. pass rush started to get to him. After the 1st couple grives Monroe County did a good job shutting down the Taylor offense. Monroe doubled up on Macon all night and he still had good stats. Thomas did not get the ball enough and his line was not blocking anyone. Not saying the outcome would have been different, but TC would have been closer if they had run the ball more and not stopped the clock on passes. I had said that the line would dictate how good a season TC has, and if they do not improve, it will be a long one....I still think they should go 5-5 or 6-4, but I may be overyly optimistic.
I think Macon has realized now that he isn't in Danville anymore. There he had other players who could make plays, but at TC if he doesn't make the play it want get made
I did see Macon hanging his head and limping around and coming off the field. He seemed to not like contact and came out every time he was tackled. He did not play much on defense in the second half and Taylor County looked horrible. Do not know why he did not play defense, he played offense. His absence on D took away a presence away from the LB core and Monroe proceeded to run the ball at will. I am not saying that the Macon kid is the best player in the world, but TC needs him on the field on offense and defense. He does not seem to have the stamina to go both ways nor the mind set.
