The MLB All-Star game has turned into a joke!!! I'm as a big a baseball fan as anyone, and I don't even care anymore. Brandon Webb threw 118 pitches on Sunday, and he pitched an inning. Scott Kazmir threw 104 pitches on Sunday and he pitched an inning. Edinson Volquez pitched 7 innings on Saturday and he pitched an inning. According to Steve Phillips of ESPN, Brad Lidge threw roughly 100 pitches in the BULLPEN before even entering the game. It's ridiculous! You can't add players to the roster, because it would take away from the honor of being an All-Star. I don't know how to solve the problem. I realize the managers were just trying to get everyone in the game, and since it went 15 innings, everyone had to contribute. But if home field advantage is determined by the outcome, don't pitch guys like Sheets and Lee for only 2 innings...pitch them 5-6, like you would in a game that means something. And don't have guys from the Royals, Mariners, Giants, and these other "non-contending" teams play, if their respective teams aren't even gonna make the playoffs. If you ask me, it's a mess, and I don't see anything changing with Bud Selig in office.
