I believe he was rushed to the big leagues, but thats JMHO. Yes, you have guys like Hamels and Lincecum who are doing very well right now and who are around the same age. Bailey, from day one in the big leagues, has had a great deal of pressure to perform at a high level. All he has right now is a fastball. His change-up is average, at best, and his curveball might as well be non-existent. He does have some mechanics issues, which I believe will be worked out. When? I have no clue. But I think the whole thing goes back to bringing him up before he was ready. Look at this year. He was VERY inconsistent at AAA Louisville with a 4-4 record and an ERA near 4.00. I don't think it's just Bailey though. No one on the Reds' staff is improving from start to start except Volquez, and I'm not sure he can improve much more.
