I’m left with an eerie feeling


In one word, “eerie” is the way I would describe my foremost feeling on the Greenup County-Lawrence County matchup in the first round of the State Tournament.

I should explain.

It seems the game has been destined for some time now. Actually, since the season began on a chilly night back on March 25.

At that time, most people still had March Madness on their minds. But not Greenup County coach Greg Logan and Lawrence County coach Randy Keeton.

Round 3: Lawrence vs. Greenup

LEXINGTON — Greenup County and Lawrence County have steamrolled their way through their respective regions and semi-state matchups to get to this point. However, it will all be over for one of the two very soon.

The Musketeers and Bulldogs will meet Thursday morning at 10 in the opening contest of the State Tournament at Applebee’s Park in Lexington, both red-hot with a combined 35 straight wins.

The Musketeers and Bulldogs split two regular-season games this season, Lawrence County a 5-2 winner on Opening Day and Greenup County winning 9-4 at the season’s midpoint.
