Magoffin has had a tough year. I'm afraid this is the start to a long region drought.


Injuries can having to any team, Coach Miller will be back and with the experience the girls gain this year, they will be favorite in district next year with JC.

Let's be honest here. Magoffin isn't only in a long region drought, but they are years away from ever being considererd the favorite in the district. The injuries aren't the main reason why this team struggled throughout the season. The talent that the Lady Hornets enjoyed for the past several years just isn't nearly the same. But the fact remains that this sort of season was clearly going to happen. Magoffin's girls basketball program has not been prepared to survive the long haul. Their recent success relied heavily on the talent of several girls and now the current team is paying the consequences. It's easy to see that this team has potential, but that potential will never be reached unless there is a major increase in their devlopment. In my opinion, this lies directly with the coaching staff. If Magoffin wants to point any fingers for their awful season, and the ones to come, look no further than the head coach. These girls have had limited experience throughout the past several years and now they are expected to fill leading roles. Watching this game last night proves one thing. Magoffin county girls basketball won't be back for a long time.
