Anything that takes us away from the word of God, is against God. As for the "beyond what?" Beyond the word of God. If it is different than God's word then it is not of God. It states that plainly in the bible. Just in case you missed that part. From my perspective, all of the " studies of science" that you mentioned tries to disprove the Bible. I agree, we all should be able to differentiate the difference between truth and fiction. Does it always work that way? I don't think so. The problem is that not all know the truth to start off with and will believe what is put in front of them. You know the truth, because your mother has told you about the word of God. Not all have had that opportunity. As far as not being intelligent enough to differentiate, they are the ones whom satan "is seeking whom he may devour." My bible tells me that there are weak among us and it is up to us to help them along. You lost me on the book burning and Nazi remark.
