Football- Patriots, possibly the greatest football franchise in history because of the past however many years.
Basketball- Yet to be seen, but looks like the Celtics are the favorites to win the title, and the Knicks have always had a solid team.
Baseball- Yankees, Red Sox, enough said.
I believe New England's soccer team is the defending champs.

Is it just because New York City and that general area has the money to put together amazing teams?

I'm sure I'm forgetting some powerhouses.
