Keeping a rivalry intact would play absolutely zero into this equation, and those that really think that it would are merely just fantacizing. I was around when it almost happened once....... The poster that mentioned that there were too many "money" alumni boosters around to ever let that happen really should face the facts on what it would cost to subsidize an independent school system year after year after year to keep it afloat. There comes a time when it all becomes senseless.

Not meaning to say that there has been the slightest bit of talk about a combination of the two, because I dont think that there has been any at all, but please keep in mind that a reciprocal agreement is helping the city school system, cash wise. If for some odd reason that agreement was not renewed , then financially I think the city school system would be hurt badly. Maybe they could withstand the blow, but I think in the long run over a period of time that a merger would just about have to happen.

I think that all involved with both school sytems have a very good working relationship with each other at the present time and I just cant imagine that anything would take place at this point and time. You have a few alums from both sides that might moan and groan , but cold hard reality, would be, well, cold hard reality.

Harrodsburg and Mercer County which were also rivals and did infact merge just this last year. So everybody,never say never.

Here's hoping that both school systems continue to remain healthy and work for the interest and benefits of the students.
