The two umpires were Greg Helton and Teresa Ratliff and both of them are licensed officials.

The Paintsville first baseman wasn't knocked to the ground either. The bases were loaded when the the pop up was hit to the first baseman. The PHS fielder was playing in front of the runner and was backpedaling to catch the pop up. At the same time the JCHS base runner was going back to the base when they inadvertently bumped but the fielder was not knocked to the ground. I honestly felt that she still should have caught the ball because it was just a bump. The ball hit the top of her glove and dropped to the ground. The fielder wasn't knocked to the ground. The base umpire Helton called the infield fly rule as soon as the ball was popped up and the runner from third advanced on the drop.

I don't know why these two officials were assigned to this game only Robert Staggs could answer that question.

Glad to know that both umpires were liscensed. I have called many games with Helton.
BTW, The rule states, that any contact from a runner while a fielder is attempting to field the ball is interference. No if's or buts. It doesn't matter if the runner does everything possible to avoid contact, it is runner's inrterference and dead ball, runner is out. This is also the rule, even if there is there is the smallest of contact.
Other than the game ending on a wrong call by the umps. It sounded as if it was a great game!
Congrats JCHS, Paintsville, keep your heads up as this one should not have ended that way.
And FYI to everyone, Helton Knows he will get ridden hard by me next time I see him.!!! LOL
