The two umpires were Greg Helton and Teresa Ratliff and both of them are licensed officials.

The Paintsville first baseman wasn't knocked to the ground either. The bases were loaded when the the pop up was hit to the first baseman. The PHS fielder was playing in front of the runner and was backpedaling to catch the pop up. At the same time the JCHS base runner was going back to the base when they inadvertently bumped but the fielder was not knocked to the ground. I honestly felt that she still should have caught the ball because it was just a bump. The ball hit the top of her glove and dropped to the ground. The fielder wasn't knocked to the ground. The base umpire Helton called the infield fly rule as soon as the ball was popped up and the runner from third advanced on the drop.

I don't know why these two officials were assigned to this game only Robert Staggs could answer that question.
