New Minnesota coach Tubby Smith has hired former Gophers assistant Jimmy Williams away from Oklahoma State. There is not a better recruiter in the nation than Williams. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/sc...s.college/

Other assistants being rumored to join Smith include Ron Jirsa (former Marshall coach and former Tubby assistant in GA), Shawn Finney and son Saul (assistant coach at Tenn. Tech).

As for recruiting...
A day after being introduced as the Gophers' new men's basketball coach a week ago Friday, Smith asked Lucas to join him in Minnesota.


"He said he wanted to establish Minnesota as a powerhouse program in the Big Ten," the 5-foot-10, 150-pound Lucas said. "He said he can't do that without getting some pieces. He asked me if I would just think about coming down for a visit.
"I'm so fond of coach Smith that I would really seriously have to think about that."

Why did Tubby not attempt to bring in someone to help him recruit at UK? And why did he not take any of his staff from UK with him?
